Expert maths & English tuition from a qualified teacher & SEN specialist
Hi, I'm Alex Jennings. I’m a qualified and experienced English and mathematics teacher, with specialist training in SEN support, including dyslexia, autism and ADHD. I’ve been teaching both home-educated and school-educated students in mathematics and English since 2010. As a parent myself, I understand the importance of creating learning that is adaptive, creative and genuinely supportive. My teaching combines professional expertise with real-life insight to help every learner feel confident, capable and understood.
I have extensive experience teaching GCSE, iGCSE, and Functional Skills mathematics and English in both small groups and one-to-one settings. During the COVID period, I also worked as GCSE exam marker, an experience that gave me valuable insight into what exam boards are really looking for.

In addition to academic teaching, I provide specialist support for learners with dyslexia, ADHD, autism, processing needs and other learning differences. I work closely with students to develop strategies that build confidence, reduce anxiety, and support long-term progress.

I also teach Functional Skills Mathematics and English (Levels 1 and 2) to a wide range of learners, from young people studying at home to adults developing essential skills for work and everyday life.

With my background as an approved marker, experienced teacher and SEN specialist, I offer clear, structured exam preparation tailored to each student’s needs, learning style, and goals.

I consider it a privilege to teach learners from all backgrounds. I communicate regularly with students and their families to share progress, celebrate achievements and offer targeted recommendations for consolidating learning at home.
I’m based in Malton, North Yorkshire, where I live with my three children. When I’m not teaching, you’ll usually find me out walking in the hills.
